What is RRoD?

RRoD is a acrynim for Red Ring of Death. This occurs when the system has some sort of failure. On boot up the console usually displays 4 green lights in 4 quadrants within a circle around the power button. These quadrants will display a combination of red lights between the 4 quadrants to help technicians find the source of the issue.

Prognosis

Normaly the Xbox 360 will display all green lights around the power button when everything is functioning correctly. These are error lights that are used to display general error codes. Depending on the fault you will recieve a combination of red lights from 1-4 quadrants.

1 Red Light Error | Hardware Failure

Quadrant 4 illuminated will normal be displayed with a onscreen digit error code must commonly E74 or E73 error code.

Error Codes E64, E65, E66, E67, E68, E69, E73, E74, E79

2 Red Light Error | Overheating

Quadrant 1 & 3 illuminates when your system reaches an unusually high temperature. To prevent overheating damage the system shuts down the CPU and GPU and runs all fans turn on at full speed to cool the system down. When the system temperature restores to operating temperature it will function again until overheating starts again.

3 Red Light Error | General Hardware Failure

The most common RROD is when quadrant 1, 3 & 4 flash red. This occurs when there is failure to one or more hardware components. Your Xbox 360 is experiencing general hardware failure and will need further diagnoses.

Unreadable Disc Error

A burnt out laser lens or a faulty disc drive. We can replace the laser or drive if necessary.
